Global Social Economy Group (GSEG)

A group of Civil Society (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) formed an international coalition, the Doha NGO Group (DNG) that served as the NGO facilitating body to the official UN Financing for Development (FfD) process and engaged in the monitoring of the various agenda items of the Monterrey Consensus. The current role of this coalition of CSOs is primarily to provide a broad inclusive platform around which interested groups and networks could mobilize, with the aim of ensuring effective civil society participation and advocacy in the UN High Level Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and its Impact on Development and its follow up. Given this new and broader focus the coalition is now called the Global Social Economy Group (GSEG). The coalition is broadly representative of international, regional and national CSOs in diverse fields: women’s organizations, trade unions, CSOs focused on thematic areas: trade, finance, debt, development effectiveness, tax justice, sustainable development, systemic reform.
