Fourth High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development Postponed

The Second Committee of the General Assembly met today Thursday 19 November, and agreed to postpone the Fourth High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development, originally set to take place on 23 and 24 November 2009, with a view to establishing new dates no later than 11 December 2009. 

The main impetus for the postponement of the HLD came from the G77 Group of developing countries plus China, who did not agree to the proposal on the table to pare down the Round tables of 24 November from three to one, in order to accommodate the lack of interpretation services.  The G77 were insistent on maintaining the agreed format of the 2-day HLD with three simultaneous Round tables while postponing the dates.
